Kindergartners learn to say and write one phonogram each day until all 70 have been introduced. At this pace, most kindergarten children are reading simple books and writing words in their own spelling notebooks in about 2 to 3 months. The guide helps teachers provide explicit and sequential instruction in the five scientifically research-based components: phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. Reading lessons are aligned to the Spalding Series 1 Leveled Readers.
