These Spalding Scholars significantly outperformed the average for Nebraska NAEP Reading Percentages in Summer 2022.

While states have their own unique assessments with different content standards, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), provides a “common yardstick” to measure what students across the nation know and can do. NAEP provides useful information about student academic achievement at the national and state level.1

The purpose of this study is to compare the Nelson Mandela 4th Grade Scholars (Spalding School) to Nebraska NAEP Reading Percentages from Summer 2022.

**Proficient is defined as a standard score of 85 or above on the Woodcock Johnson Tests of Achievement, 4th Edition With 84% of the Spalding 4th graders classified as proficient or above in reading, compared to just 14% for the non-Spalding 4th graders in Nebraska, this study provides compelling evidence that THE SPALDING METHOD® is highly effective in promoting reading proficiency among its students.
